Moodle Quiz Templates

Setting up Moodle quizzes can be time-intensive. Using a plain formatted template will help the Instructional Design and Technology Team set up Moodle quizzes more efficiently.

The IDT team use AI Tools to convert large quizzes into a specific XML format, which can then be imported into Moodle. Only the following specific question types can be used, which include:

  • Multiple Choice (this includes multiple answers)
  • True/False
  • Matching
  • Short Answer
  • Numerical
  • Select the missing word

Please note that Drag-and-Drop and hotspot questions are inaccessible, so please do not include them.

You may wish to include feedback for each question, you can include a line that says "General Feedback: Followed by your feedback".

file or filesIf you require images to be included with your quizzes, please supply them with logical file naming as well as alternative text for the images. You may include this in a separate file or files. If the images are not organised logically and without alternative text, they will likely be sent back for corrections.

How to complete

Please create your quiz questions in a plain notepad file without any formatting, bullet points, or numbered lists. Download the provided .txt file below for examples and follow its layout precisely. While AI tools are permitted, if the document contains many inconsistencies, emojis, or unusual formatting from the result of AI generation, it will be returned for corrections.
